It’s an established fact that over 95% of newbie internet marketers fail to make money on the net, or fail to establish any kind of successful internet business at all. Why?
There are three certainties in life: Death, taxes and the fact that over ninety five percent of people starting any kind of internet business are not going to make it out of the starting blocks.
The first is inevitable, the second unavoidable and the third never ceases to amaze me. What amazes me even more is the reason given for this abject figure by the luminaries of
internet marketing
We're told they do not focus.
Do not focus? I would say the opposite is true?
Wallet at the ready, they focus on shopping for the success of their own internet home business; on all the exciting offers thrown their way. This looks good, that sound fine. I think I’ll try this, now I’ll try that. Offers that promise a fortune in a month – overnight success and much, much more.
The painful truth is, you cannot buy success.
Yes, you might need to buy some tools - ask any gardener if he fancies digging with his bare hands, but he doesn’t pay people to let him garden does he? They pay him – Why? Because he’s spent time developing a solid business and reputation.
But the newbies who fail are not interested. You see, the underlying problem is not that they neglect to focus – but fear.
That’s right – fear. Fear of failure.
But whereas fear becomes the driving force behind successful men – to them failure is not an option - in this case it’s very presence drives others into paroxysms of panic. Failure, and consequently friends and family laughing at them, is constantly present and the only way to avoid it and become a successful internet marketer is to snatch up any spurious offer guaranteeing that. And if one offer doesn’t deliver – try another. And keep trying until something works.
But they never do and soon dejection kicks in, or the wallet’s drained and all they've got is a hard drive full of empty promises.
Some cave in at that point, others go on trying to buy their way to the promised land, but the driving force in both cases is still fear.
If they had mortgaged their house out of existence to invest in a retail outlet in some mall, or a franchise, do you think they would have approached that business in the same way?
Fear is at the back of all our minds when we embark on a start up business plan. The difference is successful marketers use it to control their decisions. It’s there all the time, but if you let it coerce you into irrational decisions that situation can only escalate into failure.
Instead, use it as a steadying rail. You will make mistakes, but understanding why and rectifying them can make you stronger, increase your resolve to succeed. But if you panic, then fear will hand you a one way ticket to disaster.
So, if you’re contemplating starting a successful online business then first of all put that wallet away and focus on what it is you actually want to do.
Pick a small business opportunity you think will suit you and work towards building that into a successful online business. There may well come a time when you need a piece of
online marketing software, or video training manual, but only purchase what you need.
Don’t buy it, if you’re not going to apply it.
So there you are. Control the fear. Let it be your strength and drive your business forward successfully, not destroy it.
